Working with an SEO firm that not only knows what they are doing, but is confident enough to tell you what is and isn’t going to work. Imagine that. We were tired of hearing SEO conversations that went something like this (and I’m sure you were tired of getting this pitch):

“You’ll need to pay $2000 and we’ll do some SEO magic and then you might eventually rank for this keyword, maybe, depending on, possibly, well, after some time you should rank okay.”

Our process is a little bit different as we focus on results and work backwards from there. Let’s take you through what working with Cognatio might look like:

Step 1: Research, Information Gathering, and Understanding your business

We start with an audit. We can provide a free audit with enough information to get us started, or a more robust audit depending on your budget. During this audit we take a look at your website, competition and the industry and really get to know what’s going on.

From here we schedule a call to discuss the audit and learn more about you and your business. This is a key part of the process because it allows us to move forward confidently based on specific industry and business information.

Step 2: Identify and set goals and KPIs

We all want high rankings in Google; however, it’s important that we don’t lose sight of our big goals – increasing our business, sales, and revenue. Our goal setting involves working with you to identify key website actions that result in leads and conversions. We then assign dollar values to these actions based on your closing %, lifetime value of a customer, and much more.

Once we have a better idea of the actions we want visitors to take on your website and how much they are worth to your business we configure Google Analytics to track and record this data in real-time.

Although we do rank your website higher for specific keywords, we never lose sight of the overall organic performance of your website.

Step 3: Benchmark current performance

Since we are focusing on overall organic performance, we need to understand how well we are currently performing so we know how well the initiatives are performing.

The only way we can do this is if you already have Google Analytics installed on your website. If you don’t, we’ll be able to pull a couple weeks data while we plan and implement, but we won’t have as nice of a historic snapshot as we would like. If you’re reading this now and don’t have Google Analytics installed go do it now.

In this step we’ll generate a report on the past 24 months of data that looks at organic traffic, organic conversions (if available), top landing pages, visitor geo-profile, and a rankings snapshot. This will give us our starting point moving forward.

Step 4: On-Site SEO: content and structure

This will lay the foundation of any link building initiative. We have a variety of options depending on budget, but at minimum we will optimize the homepage and key landing pages based on the keyword research that has been performed.

When possible, we’ll map out the entire website and implement all on-site optimizations for things like title tags, meta descriptions, header tags, and on page content recommendations.

For best results, we will review the website structure, theming and give recommendations based on proper siloing of content and internal links for best results.

Step 5: Off-site SEO: Link Acquisition and Promotion

This is when things really start to take off. We work with you to setup a link acquisition plan that actually works. We work with you to increase your website’s authority and rankings for targeted keywords. We use a variety of tactics depending on the competition and what’s happening in your industry – much of the strategy is based off of the link profiles of your top competitors.

Time is on your side when it comes to off-site promotion and link building. Although we typically start seeing results in as little as a couple weeks, you’ll notice that the 3-month mark is really when things start to come together.
